About Fort Worth Genomics Institute

Supporting Patients With Genetic Medical Conditions

The Fort Worth Genomics Institute is led by the husband-and-wife team of Dr. Mark Ziats, MD, PhD, and Dr. Catherine Ziats, MD, who specialize in genetic medicine, complex conditions, and undiagnosed disorders.

Our Mission

Bringing Advanced Genomic Medicine to Fort Worth

Our mission is to provide advanced genomic medicine to the Fort Worth area, elevating local healthcare standards by using the most state-of-the-art genomics technologies. We achieve this by supporting children with genetic medical conditions as they transition into adulthood, providing proactive genetic testing (polygenic risk scoring and other AI-enhanced 'omics' analytics via the Bioscope.AI platform) for adults in the Fort Worth area, and offering an undiagnosed diseases clinic that provides one-time, extensive genomics and AI-enhanced consultations for patients with as-yet unexplained symptoms or signs.

Philanthropic Support

A Mission Built Around Continuity of Care

This is a philanthropic mission that relies on the support of generous donors to cover the costs of our institution. In doing so, we are helping children in Fort Worth with genetic conditions as they age out of care at their local children’s hospital, a transition that is traditionally very stressful for families, who must find specialists, refill medications, and have home health agencies recertified, all on their own, often with adult providers who do not understand their genetic condition or the needs that go along with it. We help with all of this for the patients and their families.

Furthermore, we are elevating care for adults in Fort Worth by offering the first proactive, genomics-based wellness evaluations using the Bioscope.AI platform, providing patients and their doctors in Fort Worth with additional insight into how they can be more proactive about their health.

Lastly, our undiagnosed diseases clinic helps those who are struggling through a diagnostic odyssey without answers. We provide an extremely comprehensive, genomics- and AI-enhanced evaluation of the patient’s complaints and prior evaluations, and we provide the patient and their providers with possible differential diagnoses and next steps to consider.
